I really love this series, especially for early learners or for students who are not really quick to pick up music reading. There is so much repetition of the same concepts in many, many pieces. It provides a lot of practice the student can do unaided, and it gives a lot of confidence and enjoyment to the student. These books are a huge hit with almost all my beginning students because they can play SO MANY pieces so quickly.Product details

This is quickly becoming the "go to" method for our conservatory of music. The simple, straightforward, and no nonsense clarity of just getting on with learning to read... One note at a time... And the addition of Dr. Kevin Olson's complex harmonic composing style, in tasteful and fun duets for each simple learning piece makes this method incredible satisfying and rewarding for our students to play.
For 20 years we have used the Faber Method, but were a bit frustrated by how long it took to get the students reading well, and how it didn't focus enough on just reading the first notes between middle C and Treble G... and then between Bass F and middle C. We started by using this method to fill in those gaps. We quickly realized we simply didn't need Faber for Primer through Level 2 anymore. Our students absolutely love working through the songs, and are not overwhelmed by being asked to go a few pages further at home.
With over 200 students who have used this method, so far, we know it works. But it's not just the efficacy, it's the songs themselves. So fun, so much variety of style and genre.
Every day our team of 18 teachers ask ourselves... "How did the Olsons make songs with only 2, 3, 4, or 5 notes sound so good?"
Make sure you get all 3 books of levels 1 & 2. There is a note reading, a solo, and a finger exercises book that all work together beautifully.

At first glance it may appear too easy/boring for piano students. However, I have used this book as part of my curriculum for the past two years and students walk away with excellent reading skills. It is the best book on the market today especially for helping those right-brain dominant ones who are all ears and no eyes.
It is ok, nothing great or grand. Does the job.

I have been teaching piano for quite a few years, and wishing for a book like this. This book is an excellent way to teach young children note reading.
Most beginner piano books start with notes off the staff with finger numbers on them (a great way to start young kids) then they move to music pieces with notes on the staff in one page way to quickly for the kids to learn.
This book does teaches very slowly, starting with two note songs, then adding a note or two every few pages. Children can feel a quick sense of accomplishment as it gets easier to read each piece. The pictures are kind of boring, so I invite my students to color in the book to make it more fun.
I highly recommend this book.
